Voltpost hangs EV chargers from garage ceilings

- Voltpost launched two new Level 2 charger models — the Air Ceiling Mount for parking garages and the Surface Mount for walls and pedestals — both using its retractable AutoCoil cable.
- The chargers install in hours with little or no trenching, cutting installation costs by up to 70%, per Voltpost's own estimate (actual savings depend on site and existing electrical infrastructure).
- Each unit delivers up to 9.6 kW, adding roughly 25-30 miles of range per hour depending on the EV, and can be ordered with one or two ports and either J1772 or NACS connectors.
- Voltpost highlights a market gap: nearly one-third of US homes are in multi-unit buildings, yet less than 5% of home EV charging takes place there, with installation costs, limited electrical capacity, and assigned parking cited as barriers.
- The chargers are Build America, Buy America compliant, use modular replaceable components for simpler repairs, and integrate with AT&T's cellular network plus Google Maps, Apple Maps, Waze, Uber, Tesla, and other automaker apps.
- Voltpost has not yet announced pricing, delivery dates, or the first installation locations for the two new models.
Why it matters: Roughly one-third of US households live in multi-unit buildings where less than 5% of home EV charging currently occurs; if Voltpost's retrofit approach and up-to-70% installation-cost claim hold up across varied building conditions, it could open home charging to apartment and condo residents who have been priced out by full electrical upgrades.
