- Edmund Richardson won the 2026 Baillie Gifford prize for nonfiction for Alexander: God, King, Man, securing £50,000.
- Alexander: God, King, Man became the first ancient history title to win the nonfiction award, while a linked review described the book as “a dazzling, dizzying adventure.”
Why it matters: Richardson gains the £50,000 award and a concrete distinction in nonfiction prize history: Alexander: God, King, Man is the first ancient-history title to win the 2026 Baillie Gifford prize for nonfiction. The “dazzling, dizzying adventure” review adds a second measure of recognition to its award victory.
