- 'Verity' opened in theaters and is projected to top the box office as another Colleen Hoover book-to-screen hit, with the novel returning to bestseller charts after its 2018 release.
- Anne Hathaway told Amazon News that a great book villain needs 'a great inner monologue' — 'somebody even if you're not agreeing with what they're saying, you want to listen to them.'
- Dakota Johnson said 'Verity' will have readers questioning 'your sexuality,' while co-star Josh Hartnett said the twisted love triangle could lead you to question 'your partner.'
- Hathaway named the Man Booker Prize shortlist as a trusted recommendation source, while Hartnett said he relies on a friend who 'knows me' and 'knows things.'
- Amazon's book picks tied to the cast's answers include 'First Lie Wins' (a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick and NYT #1 bestseller), Freida McFadden's 'The Housemaid,' Taylor Jenkins Reid's 'Atmosphere,' Susan Choi's 'Flashlight' (2025 Booker-shortlisted), and 'The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny' — an Obama favorite.
Why it matters: This is a promotional tie-in that gives Amazon News direct access to A-list stars during opening weekend of a likely box-office leader, while steering shoppers toward Amazon's book catalog and Kindle Unlimited — a commercial pipeline from film to fiction sales for both Amazon and Colleen Hoover's publishing machine.
