- Volkswagen's Electric Urban Car Family — the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, Cupra Raval, and Skoda Epiq — has secured nearly 150,000 orders since series production began in June, with the ID. Polo starting at €24,995 ($29,000) and offering a 334 km WLTP range.
- VW Group delivered 209,100 all-electric vehicles in Europe in Q3, up 20% from Q3 2025, with EV orders surging 60% year-over-year; in Germany, pure-EV orders now exceed ICE orders for the first time.
- Volkswagen's US EV sales collapsed to just 14,900 units through September, down 78.4% from 68,700 a year earlier, after the $7,500 federal tax credit expired and import tariffs took effect; ID.4 production ended stateside, to be replaced by the ID. Tiguan in early 2027.
- Volkswagen's China EV deliveries fell 42.5% to 48,900 units through September, though electrified vehicle deliveries (including plug-in hybrids) rose about 30% in Q3 versus the same quarter last year, per sales boss Martin Sander.
- VW Group's total global EV deliveries slipped 5.4% in the first nine months to 678,700 vehicles, even as European volume grew 12%, illustrating the drag from US and Chinese market losses.
- Volkswagen's supervisory board approved Future Plan 2030, which calls for cutting the global workforce by up to 100,000, closing plants, and narrowing the vehicle lineup to slash costs.
Why it matters: Volkswagen is winning in Europe with sub-€25,000 EVs while hemorrhaging share in the US (-78%) and China (-42%), two of the world's three largest auto markets. The October approval of Future Plan 2030 — 100,000 job cuts, plant closures, a tighter lineup — shows management is bracing for a multi-year restructuring even as entry-level order momentum hits a six-figure mark at home.
