- Volkswagen opened pre-orders for the ID. Polo with a 37 kWh battery starting at 24,995 euros (~$29,000), after the larger 52 kWh version — priced from 33,795 euros (~$40,000) — drew 25,000 orders in its first weeks on sale.
- ID. Polo Trend with the 37 kWh LFP battery delivers 207 miles of WLTP range and supports DC fast charging up to 90 kW, recharging from 10% to 80% in about 23 minutes.
- Volkswagen explicitly framed the ID. Polo as its answer to Chinese EV brands BYD and Chery, which the company said are "quickly stealing market share" in Europe.
- The ID. Polo ships in three power outputs: 85 kW and 99 kW paired with the 37 kWh battery, and 155 kW with the 52 kWh NMC battery; a 166 kW GTI hot-hatch variant arrives this fall.

Why it matters: The entry-level ID. Polo undercuts VW's own $40,000 larger-battery variant by roughly $11,000 and directly targets Chinese EV brands BYD and Chery that VW admits are "quickly stealing market share" in its European backyard. With 25,000 orders already logged for the 52 kWh version, the cheaper model widens the funnel significantly — though its 207-mile WLTP range positions it as a city commuter rather than a long-distance EV.
