- Volkswagen opened orders for the ID. Cross Trend with a 37 kWh LFP battery at €27,995 (~$31,500) in Germany, joining the 52 kWh version that began taking orders in July.
- The 37 kWh Trend uses an 85 kW (114 hp) motor with up to 201 miles (324 km) of WLTP range; Life and Style trims can upgrade to a 155 kW (207 hp) motor with the 52 kWh NMC pack for up to 265 miles (427 km).
- Fast-charging is rated at up to 90 kW on the 37 kWh pack and 105 kW on the 52 kWh pack, with VW quoting roughly 23–24 minutes for a 10%–80% top-up on either battery.
- The ID. Cross is built on the MEB+ platform in Pamplona, Spain—shared with the ID. Polo, Cupra Raval, and Škoda Epiq—and wears VW's new 10.25″ Digital Cockpit Pro and 12.9″ infotainment setup.
- VW CEO Thomas Schäfer called the SUV "a true Volkswagen" that is "modern, reliable, and above all, affordable," framing it as the electric equivalent of the T-Cross and the brand's second entry-level EV after the ID. Polo.
- Pricing slots the ID. Cross between the T-Cross (€25,280) and Tiguan (€39,385), and VW has no plans to sell it in the US; the ID. Tiguan is slated to arrive in early 2027 as the ID.4's replacement.
Why it matters: Volkswagen is stacking its MEB+ platform across four volume models—ID. Cross, ID. Polo, Cupra Raval, Škoda Epiq—to drive a starting transaction price near €22,000 in Europe, putting sustained price pressure on rivals that still lack dedicated, scale-built EV platforms.
