- Destinus has built over 1,750 Ruta cruise missiles in Europe and now produces nearly 300 per month, exceeding Europe’s pre-war annual output, according to the company.
- Destinus began production of the Ruta Block 2 missile, designed to carry a 250-kg payload over 700 km and simplify logistics by using the same container for storage, transport, and launch.
- Mikhail Kokorich, CEO of Destinus, said the company is already producing turbojet engines in the 1.5-kilonewton thrust class and supplying them to other manufacturers as well as for its own missiles.
- Destinus uses a China-free supply chain, a deliberate choice Kokorich highlighted despite acknowledging that using Chinese suppliers would make production cheaper and faster.
- Mikhail Kokorich argued that future European missile demand will be dominated by shorter-range, lower-cost systems under 1,000 km rather than very long-range strike weapons.
Why it matters: Europe’s defense posture is shifting from production scarcity to logistical and operational scaling, as Destinus alone can now supply thousands of missiles annually. The real bottleneck is no longer manufacturing but building the military infrastructure to store, deploy, and maintain such volumes—especially as demand from Ukraine and NATO allies grows.
