- Tsukamoto Shinya gave a masterclass at the 39th Tokyo International Film Festival, discussing pivotal works from his career alongside his most recent film.
- Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People? was the English-language feature Tsukamoto identified as his most recent film and discussed during the TIFF masterclass.
Why it matters: The 39th TIFF audience received a concentrated account of Tsukamoto’s career alongside his newest English-language film, giving festival attendees direct exposure to both his established body of work and his current project. For film audiences, the session connected retrospective discussion with attention on “Mr. Nelson, Did You Kill People?” rather than treating the appearance as a generic career retrospective.
