- 1Password launched a browser integration for Anthropic's Claude that lets the chatbot use stored usernames and passwords to complete tasks like booking travel and managing online accounts on the user's behalf.
- The integration runs on a "zero-exposure security framework" that injects credentials through a secure channel the Claude agent cannot view, so the AI can use login details without ever seeing passwords or MFA one-time codes.
- 1Password automatically locks down the vault when an AI agent takes browser control, restricting access to only the credentials explicitly granted for the current task and nothing else in the vault.
- Users approve or deny each request with a single biometric prompt, and 1Password scans the page after every autofill to verify no form submission data remains exposed before returning control to Claude.
- The feature is available now on Mac across business, family, and individual plans, and requires both the 1Password desktop app and browser extensions plus the Claude desktop app and browser extensions.
- At launch, access is limited to login-related credentials; 1Password says support for payment cards and identity details will arrive sometime after launch.
