- Ashley Andrew, president of Hyundai Motor UK, said the IONIQ 3 received more pre-launch interest than any new Hyundai ever launched in the UK, as orders opened at £18,495 (~$25,000) including the £3,750 Electric Car Grant.
- The IONIQ 3 is offered with a 42 kWh battery (up to 213 miles WLTP, from £18,495) or a 61 kWh pack (up to 308 miles WLTP, from £21,995 / ~$29,000), both grant-inclusive.
- Hyundai priced the IONIQ 3 below the Renault 5 E-Tech (from £21,495) and BYD's Dolphin G DM-i (£23,990), both quoted with the same UK grant.
- IONIQ 3 leases start at £355/month on a £355 deposit at 8.9% APR in the UK, while in Germany the hatch costs from ~€28,950 (~$33,000) and leases from €209/month.
- Pleos Connect, Hyundai's new Android Automotive-based infotainment system, debuts in the IONIQ 3 with 12.9" or 14.6" screens; the car uses a 400V architecture and DC fast-charges from 10% to 80% in roughly 29–30 minutes.
- Hyundai confirmed the IONIQ 3 will not be sold in the US, where the IONIQ 5 remains a top seller and sister-brand Kia's EV3 starts at $30,000.
Why it matters: European EV buyers gain a sub-£19,000 long-range hatch that undercuts both the Renault 5 E-Tech and BYD Dolphin on price, with the UK government's £3,750 grant making it one of the cheapest 300+ mile EVs on sale. Hyundai deliberately keeps this compact EV Europe-only, leaving US shoppers paying $30,000+ for the related IONIQ 5 and Kia EV3.
