GM Puts Native Tesla Supercharger Ports on Every 2027 EV

- GM will install native NACS (SAE J3400) DC fast-charging ports on every 2027 model-year EV from Chevrolet, Cadillac, and GMC, enabling direct plug-in at Tesla Superchargers and other NACS fast chargers.
- The full 2027 NACS lineup spans Cadillac Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, Lyriq, Optiq, and Vistiq; Chevrolet Bolt EV, Blazer EV, Equinox EV, and Silverado EV; and GMC Hummer EV Pickup, Hummer EV SUV, and Sierra EV — every EV GM currently sells or has confirmed for that model year.
- The 2026 Cadillac Optiq has already made the switch, and the reborn Chevrolet Bolt (arriving in 2026 as a 2027 model) also ships with a native NACS port.
- Most 2026 GM EVs still come with CCS1 ports and require GM's $275 NACS DC adapter to access compatible Tesla Superchargers, which total more than 27,500 locations.
- 2027 NACS-port owners will still need adapters for older fast and Level 2 chargers: GM sells a CCS1 DC adapter for $189 and a J1772 adapter for $67, or both as a $256 package.
- Energy Pass, GM's app feature built into MyChevrolet, MyCadillac, and MyGMC, now supports Tesla Supercharger, IONNA, Electrify America, and ChargePoint (with EVgo coming) — together covering nearly 70% of US DC fast chargers — and offers Plug & Charge authentication, live at IONNA and expanding to other networks.
Why it matters: Every 2027 GM EV buyer gains direct access to more than 27,500 Tesla Superchargers without an adapter, but they'll still need to budget $67-$189 for CCS1 and J1772 adapters to charge at older fast and Level 2 stations. GM's Energy Pass consolidating Tesla Supercharger, IONNA, Electrify America, ChargePoint, and EVgo under one billing account covers nearly 70% of US DC fast chargers — the closest a non-Tesla brand has come to matching the Supercharger plug-and-pay experience.
