- DDA Talent and Worldwide Production Agency are merging operations to form a new global agency representing cinematographers, production and costume designers, editors, visual effects artists, directors, and producers across film, TV, commercial, and digital media.
- The combined agency — name not yet officially announced — will operate from offices in Los Angeles and London, supported by partnerships throughout Europe, Canada, South America, and Australasia.
- Frank Balkin, Co-CEO of WPA, said the merger creates 'one of the largest independent agencies dedicated to below-the-line talent,' positioning it to serve clients across streaming, advertising, and emerging media.
- The combined roster includes Academy Award-winning cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt, ASC ('Mank'); two-time Oscar nominee Jeff Cronenweth, ASC ('The Social Network'); and franchise producer Ralph Winter ('X-Men').
- Bill Dispoto (DDA Talent) and Steve Jacob (WPA) said the announcement follows 'months of strategic planning' toward a unified global expansion strategy, while DDA VP Juanita Tiangco emphasized the agencies' shared philosophy of 'putting artists first.'
Why it matters: The merger gives below-the-line artists — the cinematographers, editors, and designers typically overshadowed by name actors — a single global shop spanning five continents. Balkin calls it 'one of the largest independent agencies' in the space, giving the combined entity scale to negotiate as streaming and advertising demand for elite creative talent intensifies.
