- DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said the prediction market platform, launched December 2025, has over 600,000 customers, with annualized volume surging from $2.3 billion in April to $11 billion by July.
- DraftKings' internal data estimates 80% to 90% of prediction market consumer volume comes from betting syndicates and institutional traders, with just 1% customer overlap between its sportsbook and the largest prediction market operator.
- DraftKings missed Q2 Wall Street estimates with adjusted EBITDA of $114.6 million and revenue of $1.44 billion, versus the FactSet consensus of $156.1 million and $1.51 billion.
- Flutter Entertainment shares fell more than 11% on Wednesday after announcing Dan Taylor will replace Peter Jackson as CEO; Q2 earnings also missed estimates, though the company projected about $50 million in market-making revenue this year.
- Flutter Entertainment is moving FanDuel Predicts sports and novelty contracts from CME to Crypto.com ahead of the NFL season, with CME retaining financial market contracts.
- Coinbase reported prediction markets revenue grew 106% quarter-over-quarter with annualized Q2 revenue surpassing $100 million, though KeyBanc analysts said the figure was below their estimate.
- Robinhood's Rothera exchange, launched in June as a CFTC-licensed joint venture with Susquehanna International Group, recorded over 3.5 billion contracts traded and $156 million in Q2 event contracts revenue.
Why it matters: DraftKings, Flutter, and Coinbase all leaned on prediction markets to headline Q2 results despite missing overall Wall Street estimates — Flutter dropped 11% the same day. DraftKings' own data showing 80-90% of prediction market volume comes from institutional syndicates undermines the mainstream-consumer growth narrative. With 40+ state AGs contesting CFTC authority, the legal footing for sports event contracts remains unsettled.
