- Tate McRae will receive the Triple Threat Award at the Aug. 5 ceremony, having amassed over 20.8 billion overall streams, earned a No. 1 Billboard 200 album with "So Close to What," and sold 1 million tickets across 80 dates on her "Miss Possessive" Arena Tour.
- Sombr will receive the Songwriter of the Year Award, riding a 2025 breakthrough built on "Back to Friends" (52 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, No. 1 on Spotify Global and U.S.), with a best new artist Grammy nomination and wins at the VMAs, AMAs, and iHeart Awards already in 2026.
- Tyriq Withers will receive the New Leading Man Award, with credits including Donald Glover's "Atlanta" Season 3, the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" legacy sequel, the horror film "Him" (two NAACP Image Awards nominations), and the upcoming Colleen Hoover adaptation "Reminders of Him" opposite Maika Monroe.
- Malachi Barton will receive the Rising Star Award and serve as Variety's first-ever Young Hollywood digital cover star; he stars in Disney's "Camp Rock 3" (premiering Aug. 13), the Disney+ series "Coven Academy," a 49-date Worlds Collide Tour across the U.S., Canada and Mexico plus 11 U.K./Europe shows, and "Zombies 5: Secrets of the Sea" in 2027.
- Neutrogena will debut its Hydro Boost Rejuvenating Serum and Hydro Boost Hydrogel Eye Patches as official skincare partner, while Amazon Music presents a live performance from Sienna Spiro at the ceremony.
- Ramin Setoodeh, Variety's co-editor-in-chief and co-president, said the party continues a 10-year tradition that has previously honored Zendaya, Megan Thee Stallion, Maluma, and Olivia Rodrigo.
Why it matters: The Aug. 5 ceremony lands 8 days before Malachi Barton's Camp Rock 3 premieres Aug. 13, with Disney+ as presenting partner — making the Variety party a high-profile showcase for the franchise revival alongside Neutrogena's two-product debut.
