- Netflix acquired "The Headlands House" for development in a competitive situation, with Colman Domingo starring and executive producing alongside Raúl Domingo via Edith Productions and Patrick Moran via PKM Productions.
- Cameron B. Dupont (Yellowjackets) writes and executive produces the series, in which a gay couple moves into their dream home only to learn its prior residents were brutally murdered on the property and their own lives are now in danger.
- AMC Studios is producing the project as its latest expansion into third-party production — Kristin Dolan told investors the studio is "actively developing projects with a range of leading distributors" — following its earlier role developing Silo for Apple before Apple Studios took over.
- Domingo's Netflix relationship already spans three series: the 2024 limited series The Madness, the comedy The Four Seasons (which earned him two Emmy nominations), and now The Headlands House, plus films including the Oscar-nominated Rustin and the upcoming An Innocent Girl.
- Edith Productions produced the project through its first-look deal with AMC Global Media, where Domingo starred as Victor Strand on Fear the Walking Dead for all eight seasons from 2015 to 2023.
- Patrick Moran also has projects in development at Amazon under his first-look deal there, including Genuine Fraud starring Rain Spencer and Rich AF, plus Just One Day with Kathryn Newton at Hulu.
Why it matters: The deal hands Netflix a prestige limited series with a multi-Emmy-nominated lead and gives AMC Studios its second major third-party production after Silo, validating the studio's new strategy of supplying outside streamers. For Colman Domingo, it extends a deep Netflix relationship that already includes an Oscar-nominated film performance and two streaming series.
