- Hyundai will begin mass production of the IONIQ 3 in mid-August at its Izmit, Turkey plant, with CEO Chung Euisun personally inspecting operations and urging employees to make it "the best vehicle in Europe" on safety.
- Hyundai has already listed IONIQ 3 prices in early markets — £22,245 ($29,800) in the UK for the Standard Range and €27,995 ($32,000) in the Netherlands — ahead of a Europe-wide rollout in H2 2026.
- The IONIQ 3 offers two battery options: a 42.2 kWh pack delivering 213 miles (344 km) of WLTP range and a 61 kWh pack reaching 308 miles (496 km), with DC fast charging from 10–80% in roughly 29–30 minutes.
- The IONIQ 3 will be Hyundai's first European vehicle running its next-gen Pleos infotainment system on Android Automotive OS, available with up to a 14.6″ center screen and an AI companion called Gleo AI.
- Hyundai designed the IONIQ 3 specifically for Europe's B-segment, where EVs currently hold 14% share but are projected to reach 33% by 2030 and 65% by 2035, and the model has drawn "the highest-ever level of customer interest recorded for a new Hyundai model."
- Hyundai aims to sell over 40,000 IONIQ 3 units in 2027, slotting the vehicle into a lineup alongside the Inster, Kona Electric, IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and IONIQ 9.
Why it matters: Hyundai is staking its European volume play on a segment where EV penetration is forecast to more than double to 33% by 2030 — and the CEO flew to Turkey to personally inspect the line, signaling how much hinges on a clean launch. With pricing under £23,000 and 300+ miles of range on offer, the IONIQ 3 is positioned as a high-volume mainstream EV rather than a halo product, making it central to Hyundai meeting tightening EU emissions targets.
