- Meta announced a global rollout of paid “Plus” subscriptions for Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, slated to begin in the next few weeks.
- Facebook Plus will cost $3.99 per month and add features such as 48‑hour story expiration, custom app icons, animated super reactions, story viewer search, rewatch insights, and anonymous story preview.
- Instagram Plus also costs $3.99 per month and lets users spotlight a story weekly, extend story availability by 24 hours, and preview others’ stories without appearing as a viewer.
- WhatsApp Plus will be priced at $2.99 per month and let users pin up to 20 extra chats and use premium stickers.
- Meta is testing new subscription tiers—Meta One Plus ($7.99) and Meta One Premium ($19.99) for AI, and Meta One Essential ($14.99) and Meta One Advanced ($49.99) for creators—in Singapore, Guatemala, Bolivia, and Saudi Arabia, adding usage limits to free Meta AI and offering verified badges and clickable links for creators.
Why it matters: Meta will add $3.99–$2.99 monthly fees for millions of users, boosting subscription revenue and reducing reliance on ad income; advertisers may see less engagement as users shift to paid features.
