UK heatwave delivers exceptional sunshine and persistent 30C temperatures

- Parts of England have recorded 0% of their expected July rainfall, with Wisley in Surrey going 27 consecutive days without rain and rainfall in Wales and Northern Ireland far below average.
- Yeovilton (Somerset) and Odiham (Hampshire) have each clocked about 152 hours of sunshine in just 13 days — nearly double the July monthly average.
- The heatwave peaked on 9–10 July with temperatures of 35C, with the UK logging 10 consecutive days of 30C-plus highs in areas including Teddington, Heathrow and Kew Gardens.
- More than 8 million households in England are now living under hosepipe bans amid a continued wildfire risk.
- High pressure is forecast to rebuild over the UK next week, driving more strong sunshine with no rain, after a brief weekend cooldown of 22–28C.
