- Netflix named Katie Martin Kelley VP of Communications, Film, announced Monday, August 17, with her first day set for September 8.
- Martin Kelley joins from Warner Bros. Pictures with more than 20 years of studio experience and will report to Chief Communications Officer Dani Dudeck.
- Martin Kelley will oversee communications for Dan Lin's feature film portfolio, spanning live-action, documentaries, kids & family animation, film and TV licensing, and Netflix's international films and series.
- Dudeck's comms leadership team already includes Kelly Pakula (Global Corp Comms), Oliver Rawlins (EMEA), Flávia Vigio (LATAM), and Joy Albert (APAC), and she is recruiting a series counterpart to oversee series, podcast, games, live events, and sports.
- Martin Kelley previously oversaw media relations for WB Pictures, New Line Cinema, the animation team, and the new Clockwork banner at Warner Bros., after working with Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy at MGM and 12 years at Paramount.
- Martin Kelley is a member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
- Warner Bros. Discovery's pending merger with Paramount now won't close until at the earliest the conclusion of a March 2027 trial, after 12 U.S. states brought antitrust action against the deal.
Why it matters: Netflix gets a seasoned 20-year studio comms lead to steward its expanding theatrical and international film slate at a moment when her former employer, Warner Bros., is stuck waiting out a March 2027 antitrust trial for its Paramount merger. Dudeck is still recruiting a series counterpart, meaning Netflix's broader comms bench is mid-build rather than fully in place.
