- Shannon Olivas joined Fox Corp.'s Tubi as head of communications and publicity, overseeing consumer, advertiser, product, entertainment, and corporate PR strategy and reporting to CMO Nicole Parlapiano.
- Olivas succeeds Seana Sullivan, who was promoted to SVP of corporate communications for Fox Corp., where she continues to oversee Tubi.
- Olivas most recently led corporate communications at Cue Health, guiding the at-home COVID testing company through its IPO, and previously held senior comms posts at Netflix, DreamWorks Animation, Skydance Media, Wonderful Company, and Honest Company.
- Tubi was acquired by Fox for $440 million in cash in March 2020 and now reaches roughly 100 million monthly active users consuming about 1 billion hours of content streamed per month.
- Tubi is courting creators and indie filmmakers to position itself as a discovery platform for new talent alongside its archive of movie and TV titles.
Why it matters: Tubi has reached 100 million monthly active users and 1 billion hours streamed per month, yet is still making senior executive hires to professionalize its communications — a signal that the ad-supported streamer is building out PR infrastructure as it courts creators and pushes global expansion.
