- Trump will host the "Science: A New Golden Age" summit in Washington on Thursday, awarding the National Medal of Science to four of the most prominent figures in American technology.
- Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is named among the four recipients of the National Medal of Science at the summit.
- Google co-founder Sergey Brin is also set to receive the National Medal of Science at the Washington event.
- Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su round out the four honorees named in the report, representing the semiconductor industry's two largest US players.
Why it matters: The National Medal of Science is the United States' highest scientific honor, and its award to the CEOs of Tesla, SpaceX-affiliated ventures, Google, Nvidia, and AMD places the Trump administration's prestige behind the leaders of companies driving the current AI and space boom. The simultaneous recognition of competing chipmakers Huang and Su is notable given Nvidia and AMD's rivalry for AI accelerator market share.
