- AMC+ secured exclusive U.S. streaming rights to "Yaga" in a competitive situation, marking Hudson Williams' first role following the breakout of his Crave series "Heated Rivalry."
- The eight-episode series, co-starring Carrie-Anne Moss, will debut on AMC+ later this year and features Williams as a young fishery heir whose disappearance drives the plot.
- Kat Sandler wrote and showruns "Yaga," adapting her own stage play to reimagine the Slavic Baba Yaga folk tale as a contemporary mystery thriller set in a small coastal town.
- The ensemble also includes Noah Reid as the private investigator protagonist, Clark Backo as a local detective, plus Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, and Katharine Isabelle.
- AMC reportedly pursued "Yaga" aggressively to slot it alongside its existing witchcraft-themed slate: "A Discovery of Witches," "Sanctuary: A Witches Tale," and "Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches."
- Yaga is produced by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in partnership with Crave, co-directed by David Frazee and Rachel Talalay, and distributed globally by Sphere Abacus, a Bell Media company.
Why it matters: The acquisition lands a buzzy post-"Heated Rivalry" vehicle for Hudson Williams on AMC+ rather than a larger U.S. streamer, deepening AMC's deliberate witchcraft-genre programming lane ahead of Williams' Season 2 return on Crave's "Heated Rivalry."
