- Hyundai launched the 160B-X, a 16-tonne battery-electric forklift, completing its B-X line with 4-18 tonne capacities and extending electric forklift availability into applications traditionally reserved for diesel-powered trucks.
- The latest additions include the 100B-X, 120B-X, 130B-X LC600, 160B-X, and 180B-X models, joining the 4-9 tonne B-X models that Hyundai introduced in 2025.
- The 160B-X features a 618V high-voltage lithium-ion battery system that delivers more than 7 hours of continuous operation on a single charge, with Hyundai promising rapid charging capability.
- The B-X trucks are equipped with camera-based pedestrian detection, load sensing, Blue Spot and Red Zone lighting, autonomous parking, and operator-presence protection that shuts down travel and mast functions when the driver leaves the seat.
- Hyundai developed the heavy B-X models for sectors where diesel forklifts remain dominant — ports, shipbuilding, timber processing, metal production, construction materials, manufacturing, and logistics — including outdoor operation in rain, cold, and dust.
- Raymond Galavazi, Senior Product Manager at Hyundai Material Handling, said completing the range means "electrification is no longer limited to the lower-capacity forklift segments."
Why it matters: The 160B-X extends electric forklift capacity to 18 tonnes, opening electrified options to port, shipyard, and metal-production operations that have run on diesel by default. Hyundai's 618V lithium-ion system delivering 7+ hours per charge with rapid charging directly addresses the runtime barrier that kept heavy-industry buyers tied to combustion power.
