JetBlue Unveils Basic First-Class Fare, Three-Tier Structure

- JetBlue is overhauling fares into Base, Standard, and Flex tiers across three cabin sections: Main (economy), Even More (extra legroom), and a new BlueFirst domestic first class debuting later this year
- The BlueFirst cabin will include a restrictive basic fare option at the front of the plane
- JetBlue declined to offer a basic lie-flat fare for Mint business class — a move United Airlines and Delta Air Lines already made this year
- Base fares include a carry-on but no seat selection, refund as travel credit, charge change/cancel fees, and earn 1 TrueBlue point per dollar
- Standard fares add seat selection, waive change/cancel fees, and triple loyalty earnings to 3 TrueBlue points per dollar; Flex fares add refunds to the original payment method
- Even More seats include extra legroom, earlier boarding, and priority airport screening
- United said this month it will charge a premium for blocked middle seats on some aircraft, part of the same industry-wide push to monetize premium-cabin comfort
Why it matters: JetBlue will bundle a stripped-down basic fare into the new BlueFirst section but drew the line at Mint lie-flat, where United and Delta already unbundled — a partial concession to the industry-wide premium unbundling trend that keeps Mint fully flexible.
