- Como thrashed Manchester United 4-1 at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia on 21 October 2026, with Nico Paz scoring twice (2nd, 57th minutes) and assisting another in Cesc Fabregas's impressively coached side
- The defeat extended United's winless run to seven games across all competitions, with the source noting their start to the season 'lurches from bad to worse' and intensifying pressure on manager Michael Carrick
- Nico Paz curled the opener into the top corner after Harry Maguire gave him too much space, then dispossessed Carlos Baleba in midfield to race clear and slot in the third; he also played in Tasos Douvikas for the 49th-minute goal
- Bruno Fernandes was anonymous again, with the source noting just one goal involvement in his past nine United appearances; his head-shaking summed up the mood before Jacobo Ramón headed in Como's fourth in the 76th minute
- United have just three points from their first three Champions League games and now face an uphill battle to qualify from the league phase, with a Premier League fixture against Bournemouth on Sunday their next chance to halt the slide
- Sky Sports' Paul Merson said the result was 'no shock': 'They're not one of the biggest teams in the world. They're far from it,' arguing United are judged by the standard of Rooney, Ronaldo and Keane — players they are 'a million miles away' from matching
Why it matters: United are now winless in seven matches across all competitions and have only three points from three Champions League games, putting their progression from the league phase in genuine doubt and leaving Carrick needing an immediate Premier League response against Bournemouth on Sunday.
