Audi previews A2 e-tron electric comeback

- Audi previewed the A2 e-tron — an all-electric entry-level model returning after a 25-year hiatus — ahead of its official debut this fall, with CEO Gernot Döllner saying it will "rejuvenate" the brand and make "entry into the Audi world easier and more relevant than ever."
- Audi is cold-weather testing the camouflaged prototype at a secret site in Lapland for thermal management and battery performance, and running it through its Ingolstadt wind tunnel, which features a 235 km/h rolling road and produces wind speeds of up to 300 km/h.
- Per Autocar, the A2 e-tron will share the updated MEB platform with the new Volkswagen ID.3, with similar battery pack options of 50 kWh, 58 kWh, and 79 kWh offering WLTP driving ranges of up to 417 km, 494 km, and 630 km.
- The A2 e-tron is expected to start at around $40,000 (£30,000), slotting below the Q4 e-tron (which starts at £47,355 in the UK and €47,500 in Germany), and will be built in Ingolstadt.
- Audi has launched over 20 new models in the past two years and claims the youngest portfolio among competitors, with the A2 e-tron extending its lineup from "fully electric entry-level models to the premium full-size Q9 SUV."
