- Pete Hegseth is identified as the person who currently “looks like” the fall guy in the Trump White House.
- Trump White House is portrayed as operating under the de facto motto, “Somebody’s gotta take the fall.”
Why it matters: The article places Pete Hegseth in the role of the person expected to absorb the Trump White House’s blame, concentrating attention on one figure rather than the institution around him. For Hegseth, the immediate consequence is becoming the named focal point of that blame narrative.
