- Netflix landed Jupiter Island with a straight-to-series order and simultaneously signed writer Connor Hines to an overall deal to exclusively develop new series for the global streamer.
- Jupiter Island is loosely inspired by real-life events and celebrities in the PGA world, set on the ultra-exclusive Jupiter Island where a mysterious outsider's arrival threatens golf's reigning power couple.
- A24 is the studio on Jupiter Island and also behind Netflix's Beef and two other upcoming straight-to-series projects: Trigger Point starring Joe Edgerton and a spy drama with Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour.
- Connor Hines executive produces with Julie Gardner of Bad Wolf America and just earned an Emmy nomination for FX's Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, which scored 7 nominations and became FX's most-watched limited series ever on Hulu and Disney+.
- Netflix now has two professional golf scripted series with the Jupiter Island pickup, joining the Will Ferrell comedy The Hawk (premiering July 16) alongside the popular Full Swing docuseries.
- Netflix earned 111 Emmy nominations across 34 titles this year, led by Beef Season 2 (16) and The Beast In Me (9), both competing against Love Story in the Limited or Anthology Series race.
Why it matters: The Jupiter Island pickup gives Netflix two scripted golf series plus the Full Swing docuseries, deepening its A24 relationship — which now spans four straight-to-series Netflix projects (Jupiter Island, Beef, Trigger Point, and the Brown/Harbour spy drama) — and locking in a creator whose Love Story just earned 7 Emmy noms and became FX's most-watched limited series on Hulu and Disney+.
