- Netflix released the first trailer for 'Heartstopper Forever,' a feature-length film that wraps up the 'Heartstopper' storyline after its three-season run, set to begin streaming July 17.
- Alice Oseman, creator and executive producer of the series, is writing the screenplay, with Wash Westmoreland ('Still Alice') directing.
- Kit Connor and Joe Locke return in the lead roles of Nick Nelson and Charlie Spring and are also serving as executive producers on the film.
- Co-stars William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Rhea Norwood, and Leila Khan are expected to reprise their roles.
- The trailer is soundtracked to Olivia Rodrigo's 'Stupid Song' from her new album 'You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love,' which dropped last week.
- Unlike previous seasons, Oseman's final volume of her 'Heartstopper' graphic novels has not yet been published, meaning fans do not know how Nick and Charlie's love story will end on screen.
Why it matters: Heartstopper built a fiercely loyal fanbase across three seasons since debuting in April 2022, and this July 17 film becomes the definitive ending for the franchise. Crucially, Oseman is writing the conclusion without a final published graphic novel to adapt from — an unusual creative risk for a series that previously mirrored its source material beat for beat.
