- Venus Twins appeared about halfway through Olivia Rodrigo's "Expectations" remix video with Chappell Roan, playing members of Rodrigo's team in a "Family Feud"-style showdown alongside David Byrne (as host) and producer Dan Nigro.
- Venus Twins were cast about a month before the shoot through a non-specific call that described them as "interesting-looking people and punks"; the brothers didn't learn it was for Rodrigo until the night before filming.
- Venus Twins shot their scene at a warehouse studio in Astoria, Queens, after an hour in hair and makeup for liberty spikes, and spent roughly two hours on camera being directed to play "the mean family" — Jake says he channeled hardcore punk veteran Justin Pearson's cult Jerry Springer Show appearance.
- Venus Twins briefly met Rodrigo, who Matt called "so sweet" with "really great energy," and chatted with Byrne, who "introduced himself as David"; Roan was kept on the opposite side of the game-show set.
- Venus Twins previously appeared on a 2024 MrBeast YouTube episode featuring 100 identical twins competing for a cash prize, and also perform live as part of Fantasy of a Broken Heart's lineup.
- Venus Twins recently released an album with a new project called iluvboyband, formed with another set of identical twins, and are finishing a new Venus Twins record they describe as "more poppy and more electronic" — with a Halloween set as Modern Baseball booked at Brooklyn's Market Hotel for Oct. 31.
Why it matters: For an underground Brooklyn punk act, a single Olivia Rodrigo video cameo can be a step-change in visibility — Venus Twins say their phones have been "absolutely blowing up" since the premiere, and Jake notably chose not to pitch his own band to Rodrigo on set, holding back the promo for their own upcoming, more pop-leaning album instead.
