- Iran hosted delegations from Saudi Arabia and other regional powers, with the meetings unfolding as fears grew of a return to war across the Middle East.
- Iran's president urged 'regional unity' at the meeting with the Mecca pact countries, even as the same coverage described the region as on edge over potential renewed fighting.
Why it matters: Saudi Arabia and other regional powers sent delegations to Tehran, a direct line of contact even as coverage describes the region as on edge over renewed fighting. Oil prices fell alongside the talks, giving crude buyers a lower headline price, while Iran's public message stayed on regional unity rather than confrontation.
