- Electric Porsche Boxster was photographed Supercharging at a Tesla station in Carson, CA (DoubleTree hotel parking lot), with two Porsche employees inside the vehicle.
- Reddit user SeaPeanut7_ posted photos showing the car plugged directly into NACS without an adapter, with plastic cladding at front and rear hiding the diffuser and tape around the rear lightbar and headlights.
- Porsche CEO Michael Leiters said in an August interview: "we will build the model – because it is the best solution economically and will be a fantastic car," confirming the project after rumors it was on the chopping block.
- The 718 will share a platform with Audi under a platform-sharing agreement; Audi "never faltered in its plans to bring its sister car, the TT, to the road."
- The car's single NACS inlet in the rear center hints Porsche is considering ditching its two-port charging paradigm (NACS for DC plus J1772 for AC) for smaller sportscars — Porsche has had Supercharger access since last September.
- The Boxster EV was also recently spotted doing a mostly uncamouflaged lap at the Nürburgring, just weeks before the California Supercharger sighting.
- Porsche North America declined to comment; the model is officially still under consideration with no announced market or timing.
Why it matters: Porsche Supercharging the electric Boxster on Tesla's network — rather than its own nearby Experience Center chargers — points to active real-world validation of NACS compatibility. With CEO Michael Leiters confirming in August the model 'will be built,' the single NACS port hints Porsche is considering ditching its current two-port charging paradigm for smaller sportscars.
