Ford’s new EV pickup caught at a Tesla Supercharger

- Ford's upcoming midsize EV pickup will start at around $30,000 when it launches in 2027 and will be built at the Louisville Assembly Plant, which Ford is upgrading after phasing out Escape and Lincoln Corsair production to make room.
- Two camouflaged prototypes were photographed charging at a Tesla Supercharger in images posted on Reddit, with the NACS charge port located on the driver's side rear end — matching Tesla's own placement for easier parking.
- The truck is the first vehicle on Ford's new Universal EV (UEV) Platform, which integrates a 400-volt electrical architecture with prismatic LFP batteries to cut costs and open up interior space.
- Ford projects the pickup will deliver at least 300 miles of range, offer more interior passenger space than a Toyota RAV4 (excluding the frunk and bed), and carry a lower cost of ownership than a Tesla Model Y.
- As Ford's first vehicle with a native NACS port, the pickup will recharge at Tesla Superchargers without an adapter — a notable distinction from the F-150 Lightning and Mustang Mach-E.
Why it matters: At ~$30,000 with 300+ miles of range and native NACS access, Ford's pickup lands among the cheapest EVs on the US market alongside the Chevy Bolt and Nissan LEAF. By building on its F-Series truck heritage, Ford is positioning itself to keep truck loyalists from defecting to EV-native brands like Tesla, Rivian, and Lucid.
