Ford’s $30,000 EV pickup captured testing again as new details emerge

- Ford has ramped up public testing of its $30,000 midsize electric pickup ahead of the vehicle's 2027 launch, with new camouflaged prototypes spotted in Arizona during hot-weather testing by KindelAuto and earlier in Long Beach by The Autopian.
- The midsize Ford EV pickup will be the first vehicle built on Ford's new Universal EV Platform (UEV), positioning it as the spiritual successor to the discontinued F-150 Lightning.
- Ford's Advanced EV Aerodynamics senior manager Saleem Merkt said the new pickup's aerodynamic efficiency is "more than 15% better than any other pickup truck on the market today," claiming it will yield longer range and lower cost.
- Spy shots captured alongside a Ford Expedition show the prototype sits much lower to the ground, has design cues reminiscent of the Maverick and Ranchero, and features a camera in the front grille plus a new spoiler on the rear cabin roof.
- Close-up interior images reveal a large touchscreen infotainment display, and Ford claims the midsize truck will offer more passenger space than a Toyota RAV4.
