- Steve Fambro posted on X that at roughly 8 a.m., his home rooftop solar was producing 136W while his Aptera parked outside was generating 363W — more than double.
- Aptera's 700-watt solar package wraps across the hood, dash, roof, and rear hatch, designed so that at any given sun angle at least some cells sit close to perpendicular to the light.
- Aptera claims the system can add up to 40 miles of range per day in sunny climates, a figure the company has been validating in real-world testing throughout 2025 and 2026.
- Aptera (NASDAQ: SEV) posted a full-year 2025 GAAP net loss of $43.9 million — $15.5 million in Q4 alone — and ended December with $9.6 million in cash in its first annual report as a public company.
- Q1 2026 brought in roughly $17.1 million in gross proceeds, including a $9 million follow-on offering in late January and $8.1 million from warrant exercises, on top of a $75 million equity line of credit.
- Aptera rolled its first solar EV off the Carlsbad validation assembly line on March 3, received a Foreign-Trade Zone designation in February, and secured a lease extension through March 2028.
Why it matters: With $9.6 million in cash and a $43.9 million annual loss, Aptera's financial runway is tight as it tries to scale from a validation line to volume production. Fambro's tweet is a useful marketing moment that reinforces the solar-EV concept for reservation holders, but the company still has to prove it can manufacture at all before the physics demonstration matters to anyone else.
