- Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Rachel McAdams, and David Krumholtz have been cast in voice roles in Benny Safdie's 'Lizard Music,' an Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists live-action/CGI hybrid based on the Daniel Pinkwater novel of the same name.
- The previously announced ensemble includes Dwayne Johnson as 'The Chicken Man' (also a producer), Theo Leber in the lead role, plus Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi, Regina Hall, and Andrew Dice Clay.
- The plot follows a boy (Leber) who discovers a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing 'otherworldly music,' then befriends Johnson's eccentric 'Chicken Man' and his 85-year-old chicken Claudia on a quest that becomes 'a voyage through invisible worlds, unexpected harmonies.'
- Producers include UA's Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt, Benny Safdie's Out for the Count Productions, Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions, and David Koplan's Magnetic Fields Entertainment.
- Colman Domingo — a two-time Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner — receives the Academy Museum's Vantage Award this weekend and is developing Disney's Princess Tiana movie plus Netflix limited series 'Headlands House.'
- Jeff Goldblum recently co-starred as The Wizard of Oz in Jon M. Chu's 'Wicked' and 'Wicked: For Good' alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
- David Krumholtz, fresh off DC Studios' 'Supergirl' and Universal's Oscar-winning 'Oppenheimer,' next appears in Paramount's football underdog story 'Mr. Irrelevant,' out Christmas Day.
Why it matters: Four Oscar- and Emmy-caliber actors joining Benny Safdie's first live-action/CGI hybrid signals United Artists and Amazon MGM are backing the director for family-friendly material adapted from a Daniel Pinkwater source novel. Dwayne Johnson leads a nine-name principal cast while doubling as producer through Seven Bucks Productions, anchoring the prestige animated hybrid with A-list voice power.
