- Antonio Guterres warned of “unimaginable” consequences from any military escalation involving Iran and Gulf nations.
- Egypt’s Foreign Minister said Cairo is in daily contact with Tehran, Washington and regional partners to prevent another full-scale military clash.
Why it matters: Egypt provides the report’s concrete counterweight to the UN warning: its foreign minister says Cairo contacts Tehran, Washington and regional partners every day specifically to prevent another full-scale military clash. That daily channel identifies an active diplomatic mechanism alongside Guterres’s warning, rather than leaving the story at the level of threatened consequences.
