- Brady Ebert, former guitarist of Turnstile, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after allegedly striking William Yates — father of frontman Brendan Yates — with his car on March 29.
- William Yates was found outside his home with "trauma to his lower extremities" and a broken bone protruding from his leg, and is recovering from surgery for "severe physical trauma," per the band.
- According to family members, Ebert drove up to the Yates home, honked and swore, left, then returned; when Yates threw a rock at his car, Ebert drove into him as he tried to run away, and allegedly came back a third time to tell the victim he "deserved it."
- Ebert, 33, was arrested March 31, faces an additional count of first-degree assault, and is being held without bond; in court he claimed surveillance footage would "contradict" his accusers, but Judge Sherri D. Koch described the alleged attack as "violent and targeted."
- Turnstile said they severed ties with Ebert in response to a "consistent pattern of harmful behaviour" and his threats of violence, writing they had "exhausted every available resource" to support his recovery before "a boundary ultimately had to be set."
- Ebert left Turnstile in 2022, later formed the Self-Evident Truth, and was ejected from that group after publicly alleging financial misconduct and claiming bandmates had taken out a restraining order against him.
