Kia reveals PV5 prices in Canada as a new affordable EV option

- Kia announced PV5 pricing in Canada starting at CAD 46,995 (~$33,099 USD), with all trims eligible for up to CAD 5,000 through the Electric Vehicle Affordability Program when sales begin in Q4 2026.
- PV5 Cargo trims (Basic and Plus) both use a 71.2 kWh battery rated for up to 223 miles (360 km) of range, a built-in NACS charge port, and DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes.
- PV5 Cargo is a 2-seater with 5,016 liters of cargo space, a 1,631-lb payload capacity, and a 2,995-mm wheelbase, with a flexible interior Kia says can be customized for different business needs.
- Kia loaded the PV5 with ADAS features including Blind Spot Collision Avoidance, Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Assist, and Highway Driving Assist, plus OTA updates for ongoing improvements.
- Kia launched the PV5 in Europe and South Korea in late 2025, where it already accounts for 9% of light commercial EV sales in Europe and ranks among Kia's top-selling EVs in Korea.
- PV5 is likely excluded from the US market because it is built in Korea and would be subject to Trump Administration import tariffs, the same reason Kia indefinitely delayed the EV4 for the US.
- David Sherrard, Kia Canada's Director of Strategic Planning, framed the PV5 as "yet another affordable option" in a 2026 lineup that also includes the new EV4 (starting at CAD 38,995) and EV5.
Why it matters: Canadian businesses and fleet buyers gain a sub-CAD 47,000 electric van with 360 km of range and strong ADAS, undercutting most commercial EV rivals. Meanwhile, US shoppers are locked out of this same vehicle — and likely the EV5 SUV too — because Korean-built EVs face Trump-era import tariffs that make them uneconomical to sell stateside.
