- BYD opened pre-orders for the Great Han (Da Han) at the Chengdu Motor Show — its first D-segment flagship sedan under the Dynasty family — starting at 249,900 yuan (~$37,200), with a Flagship RWD trim at 269,900 yuan (~$40,200).
- The Great Han delivers a CLTC range of up to 1,008 km (626 miles) on a 102.326 kWh Blade Battery 2.0, while the AWD variant trades range for power with a combined 570 kW (764 hp) dual-motor setup rated at 880 km.
- Blade Battery 2.0 Flash Charging can take the Great Han from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes using 1,500 kW charging hardware, with a near-full 10–97% recharge completed in 9 minutes.
- At 5,256 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase, the Great Han is larger than the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air and closer in footprint to the long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class.
- Standard equipment across all trims includes DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering, zero-gravity front seats, and BYD's God's Eye B ADAS suite with Navigation on Autopilot and remote parking.
- BYD's general manager Lu Tian confirmed last month that the Great Han would be fully revealed at Chengdu and teased that 'more surprises await.'
Why it matters: At roughly $37,200 with 1,008 km of range and 5-minute charging, the Great Han is priced below a base Tesla Model S while exceeding it on every range and dimension metric — a direct competitive shot at Tesla, Lucid, and Mercedes in the full-size luxury sedan segment BYD has avoided until now.
