- Cam Ward finished 32nd in EPA per play among 33 qualified passers as a rookie for the Titans, though his TD-to-INT ratio flipped from 6-6 through Week 11 to 9-1 from Week 12 onward, with improved sack avoidance under pressure.
- The Titans hired Robert Saleh as head coach and Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator, used the No. 4 overall pick on Ohio State WR Carnell Tate, and added former Giant Wan'Dale Robinson to give Ward better surroundings after both he and Dart had their coaches fired midseason.
- Jaxson Dart posted a 65% rushing success rate (second among QBs) with nine rushing touchdowns in 12 starts for the Giants, but led the NFL with a 39.1% pressure-self-inflicted rate on pressured dropbacks and ranked 26th out of 29 in PFF passing grades.
- The Giants added tight end Isaiah Likely in free agency and took offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa at No. 10 to support Dart, who played most of the year without injured WR Malik Nabers and RB Cam Skattebo.
- Tyler Shough took over the Saints in Week 9 and from that point ranked fourth in completion percentage, 12th in net yards per attempt, and seventh in completions of 10+ yards, though he finished 26th in sack rate despite facing the seventh-lowest pressure rate in the league.
- Ward told reporters he lost weight this offseason to improve agility and pressure avoidance, with the article drawing a direct comparison to Caleb Williams cutting his negative-play rate from 12.4% as a rookie to 6.3% in his second year.
Why it matters: These three franchises are betting their multi-year rebuilds on sophomore QBs who finished 29th, 30th, and 32nd in passing efficiency while playing through midseason coaching firings and depleted supporting casts. The Titans have made the largest 2026 investment, pairing Ward with a new coach-OC duo, a top-5 draft pick at receiver, and free-agent additions — making Ward's sophomore leap the most consequential inflection point of the group.
