- Kia converted the PV5 Cargo electric van into an off-grid mobile racing simulator featuring gaming seats, a custom interior, and a 55″ screen.
- Brindley Kia (Midlands-based) is loaning the vehicle to CX Auto Group for five weeks through Kia Rental to carry out the modifications.
- The rig runs entirely on the PV5's vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, with Kia reporting the van used just 1% of its battery charge per two hours of simulator operation.
- The simulator will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 9–12, 2026), where content creators and racing drivers will compete for fastest lap times and visitors can attempt to top the leaderboard in exchange for donations.
- The standard PV5 Cargo is offered with 51.5 kWh (184 mi WLTP) or 71.2 kWh (258 mi WLTP) battery packs, and is the first model in Kia's Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup, with the PV7 and PV9 planned by 2030.
Why it matters: By leaning on the PV5's V2L capability — draining only 1% of battery per two hours — Kia is turning a commercial work van into a self-sufficient event activation at one of the UK's highest-profile auto shows, generating brand visibility for M.A.T.E. and proof-of-concept for PBV versatility in front of fleet buyers and consumers.
