BYD reveals images of the new Qin Max EV ahead of its launch next month

- BYD revealed new images of the Qin Max EV, described as a "completely different B-segment fast-charging sedan," ahead of its official launch next month.
- Lu Tian, general manager of BYD's Dynasty series, announced on Friday that the Qin Max has begun arriving at dealerships in China.
- BYD's Flash Charging system, paired with new Blade Batteries 2.0, can recharge the vehicle from 10% to 97% in nine minutes and from 10% to 70% in just five minutes.
- The Qin Max EV is equipped with an electric motor offering 160 hp (120 kW) or 321 hp (240 kW), paired with 52.868 kWh or 64.315 kWh Blade Batteries delivering CLTC ranges of 330 miles (530 km) or 391 miles (630 km).
- The Qin Max measures 4,866 mm long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,495 mm tall with a 2,790 mm wheelbase, and will be available in both pure-electric and plug-in-hybrid powertrains.
- The Qin L EV, launched last year starting at 119,800 yuan ($17,500), sold over 10,000 units in its first week, setting a sales benchmark for the larger Max model.
Why it matters: BYD's Flash Charging technology, which recharges 10–97% in nine minutes, narrows the convenience gap with gas-powered cars and is being deployed first in the Qin Max — a segment sized against the Tesla Model 3. With the smaller Qin L EV having moved 10,000+ units in its launch week at a $17,500 starting price, the Max could pressure competitors on both charging speed and value in China's crowded sedan market.
