- The Qin Max is positioned as a 'super-sized' B-segment fast-charging sedan above the Qin L, measuring 4,866 mm long with a 2,790 mm wheelbase — larger than a Tesla Model 3 in length but with a shorter wheelbase
- BYD's Blade Batteries 2.0 and Flash Charging system can recharge the Qin Max from 10% to 97% in nine minutes, or 10% to 70% in five minutes, per the source
- The Qin Max EV will offer two motor outputs — 160 hp or 321 hp — and two battery packs: a 52.868 kWh pack delivering 330 miles of CLTC range and a 64.315 kWh pack delivering 391 miles
- BYD will also offer the Qin Max as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and the model is expected to include the company's God's Eye B intelligent driving and ADAS system
Why it matters: The Qin Max's nine-minute 10-to-97% Flash Charging claim and sub-$17,500 pricing ceiling set by its Qin L sibling put BYD in direct competition with Tesla's Model 3 on both charging speed and affordability. With over 10,000 Qin L units sold in its first week last year, BYD is clearly targeting that same impulse-buy segment with a larger, faster-charging follow-up.
