- Vantrack is moving its LightCamp electric camper from April proof-of-concept to production, with first deliveries expected this September.
- The LightCamp is priced at €65,000 — roughly €25,000 above the Kia PV5 Passenger Essential it builds on — and is positioned as a premium, high-integration alternative to lower-cost kits.
- Unlike Kia's own WKNDR concept, the Vantrack LightCamp is headed for actual customer deliveries, delivering on a promise the auto-show concept never did.
- The LightCamp kit is removable, converting the PV5 back into a standard people-mover — conceptually similar to ~$2,000 kits from VanLab and Slidepod but with visibly superior fit and finish.
- Standard equipment includes a portable induction cook station, an 11L fresh water system with integrated faucet, an 18L insulated cooler, a height-adjustable 130×190 cm slide-out bed, the ZELT rooftop tent accessible via Vantrack's panoramic Skylight hatch, cargo rails, and a 195L rear storage rack.
- The ZELT rooftop tent alone sits in the same premium tier as hard-shell overland tents that routinely sell for over $3,000, underscoring where the cost goes.
Why it matters: EV adventurers now have a real, buyable electric camper at €65,000, but Vantrack's €25,000 markup over the base PV5 Passenger means buyers who balked at VanLab-style $2,000 DIY kits get no middle ground — only a luxury tier. September deliveries will test whether premium design integration can command a premium price in a market that has so far only seen affordable, aftermarket conversions.
