- Fox Entertainment Studios sealed a first-look development and producing deal with Cottage Industry Entertainment, the shingle founded by Lisa Hamilton Daly and Alysia Cotter Thomas.
- The Whittiers is one of four television projects in the partnership; Fox has optioned Danielle Steel’s novel for a TV adaptation.
- Summer on Lilac Island is in development as a television adaptation of Lindsay MacMillan’s novel, with Delondra Mesa attached to write.
- Mom’s Place is a comedy from Angela Kinsey and Audrey Wauchope, joining a one-hour family drama from writer Jordanna Fraiberg in the TV slate.
- It All Comes Down to This is a hockey-themed romantic comedy from screenwriters Sam Sklaver and Elizabeth Peterson, one of three feature-film projects in the slate.
- The View from Lake Como is being adapted by author Adriana Trigiani, while another film in the slate is an Ali Laventhol and Tawnya Bhattacharya adaptation of Cynthia Hand’s “The Afterlife of Holly Chase.”
- Cottage Industry Entertainment was founded to focus on emotionally engaging, female-driven storytelling across romantic comedies, family dramas, mysteries and thrillers; Fox Entertainment Studios head of scripted Hannah Pillemer praised the founders’ creative instincts and commercial sensibility.
Why it matters: Fox’s pact gives it seven projects—four TV series and three feature films—rather than a single isolated adaptation. Cottage Industry gains Fox’s development and producing support for a slate explicitly centered on female-driven romance, family, mystery and thriller stories.
