BYD's Great Han EV sedan spotted ahead of debut

- BYD's Great Han (DaHan) sedan was photographed driving in China with minimal camouflage, per spy shots from ThinkerCar, and is expected to appear in MIIT regulatory filings next month or in July.
- The Great Han is expected to feature BYD's Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging system, delivering a CLTC range of up to 1,000 km (621 miles) — slightly longer than the Great Tang SUV.
- BYD's Flash Charging system delivers up to 1,500 kW, enabling a recharge from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes and 10% to 97% in 9 minutes — roughly 30% to 50% faster than the average EV.
- The Great Tang (Datang) SUV sibling attracted over 30,000 preorders in its first 24 hours at the Beijing Auto Show and has since surpassed 100,000 preorders in two weeks, according to BYD Dynasty series general manager Lu Tian.
- The Great Han is expected to begin presales in August with an official launch in September, per CarNewsChina, and will likely be priced slightly below the Great Tang's 250,000 yuan ($36,500) starting presale price.
- Spy photos confirm the sedan shares the Great Tang's design language, including a full-length LED light bar across the front and a similar interior with multiple digital screens and premium seating.
Why it matters: BYD is extending its flagship Dynasty lineup into the sedan segment while the Great Tang SUV has already racked up 100,000 preorders in two weeks at a ~$36,500 starting price.
