Zijin Longking Unveils 350-Ton ZL230E Electric Mining Truck

- Zijin Longking rolled out the ZL230E (also called LK350E) at a media ceremony in Longyan City, Fujian Province, claiming it as the largest-tonnage pure electric mining truck in China at 350 tons GVW and 230-ton payload capacity.
- The ZL230E is powered by dual 800 kW electric motors on the rear drive axles and a 1,400 kWh battery pack that charges from 10% to 90% in 25 minutes, versus the 'hundreds-of-gallons diesel top-off' the ICE competition requires.
- Australia's EACON co-developed the truck, contributing its full autonomous technology stack covering perception, decision-making, control, and cloud-based dispatch operations.
- EACON already operates more than 3,100 autonomous trucks across over 40 large-scale mines, including Zijin Mining's Zijinshan Gold-Copper Mine and Julong Copper Mine in Tibet, plus the Norton Gold Fields project in Australia.
- The launch was staged as part of a 'Mining + Intelligent Manufacturing' investment promotion event in Xinluo District, with Longking stating that 'electrification and intelligentisation of mining operations are currently converging at an accelerated pace.'
Why it matters: A 350-ton GVW class has been diesel-only territory; matching that tonnage with a 1,400 kWh battery and 25-minute fast-charge directly targets the refueling-downtime gap that kept mines hooked on diesel. Pairing it with EACON's 3,100-truck autonomous fleet gives Zijin Longking a turnkey electrification-plus-automation bundle for the 40+ mines already running EACON software.
