- BYD launched its "biggest-ever" UK sales event with savings up to £2,500 ($3,300) on plug-in hybrid (DM-i) and electric vehicles, running September 10–21.
- BYD registrations in the UK surged 98% through August to more than 48,000 vehicles, lifting its market share to 3.48% from 1.92% a year earlier, with over 110,000 vehicles registered since its March 2023 UK launch.
- The Dolphin G DM-i, BYD's "Super Hybrid" specifically designed for Europe, goes on sale in the UK this month with leases starting at £250 ($330) per month on a £1,999 deposit at 1.9% APR, with the base Active trim priced at £23,990.
- The UK new-car market hit a record electrified share in August, with over 28,000 BEVs and more than 13,700 PHEVs registered — 29.8% of all sales — while BEVs reached a record 25.6% of year-to-date volume, still below the 33% government mandate.
- BYD is expanding its UK lineup with its first pickup, the Shark, and its first seven-seat SUV, the Ti 7, while its luxury sub-brand Denza also rolls out new models in the UK and Europe.
Why it matters: BYD's 98% UK registration growth and new "biggest-ever" discount push land as the UK's BEV share hits a record 25.6% through August but still trails the government's 33% mandate — BYD is using aggressive lease pricing on new DM-i hybrids to convert price-sensitive UK buyers and lock in its fastest-growing European market before rivals can match it.
