- BYD confirmed its Great Han flagship EV sedan launches October 13 with a CLTC range of up to 1,008 km (626 miles), making it the brand's first D-segment Dynasty family sedan.
- Pre-orders opened August 21 at the Chengdu Auto Show starting at 249,900 yuan (~$37,200), with the top RWD Flagship trim at 269,900 yuan ($40,200).
- The two RWD variants pair a 370 kW (496 hp) single motor with a 102.326 kWh Blade Battery 2.0; the AWD version adds a front motor for 570 kW (764 hp) combined but drops range to 880 km (546 miles).
- Flash Charging technology recharges from 10% to 70% in 5 minutes at 1,500 kW, and a 10–97% full recharge takes just 9 minutes.
- At 5,256 mm long with a 3,130 mm wheelbase, the Great Han is larger than the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air, closer in footprint to the long-wheelbase Mercedes S-Class.
- Standard equipment includes DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension, rear-wheel steering, zero-gravity front seats, and BYD's God's Eye B ADAS with Navigation on Autopilot and remote parking.
- The launch extends BYD's upscale push following the Great Tang SUV and its premium Denza sub-brand.
Why it matters: At ~$37,200 with 1,008 km of CLTC range and 5-minute flash charging, the Great Han undercuts the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air on price while exceeding both in size and claimed range — putting Western flagship EVs on notice in a segment that has never been priced below $80,000.
