- Denza unveiled the new Z9S luxury EV sedan, calling it a "technologically advanced luxury intelligent sedan" with a sleek fastback design that debuted in a new Dawn Purple color.
- The Z9S delivers a CLTC range of up to 571 miles (920 km) from a 102.326 kWh battery, with the standard variant equipped with a single 429 hp (320 kW) rear-mounted permanent-magnet synchronous electric motor.
- A tri-motor Z9S variant listed by AutoHome — China's largest online car-buying hub — produces nearly 1,200 hp (890 kW) combined, though it was not included in China's regulatory sales approval.
- Measuring 5,090 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,490 mm tall with a 3,025 mm wheelbase, the Z9S is slightly shorter and smaller than the Denza Z9 GT currently on sale in Europe and China.
- The sedan will feature BYD's next-generation AI-powered Intelligent Cockpit, which "not only listens, but understands you," per Denza's announcement.
- The Z9S debut comes one week after Denza launched its Z electric supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which has since logged over 1,000 global pre-orders priced from £142,900 in the UK and 680,000 RMB in China.
Why it matters: BYD's Denza is rapidly stacking high-end launches — the Z9S sedan follows the Z supercar (1,582 hp, 0-62 mph in 1.96 seconds) by just one week, and Denza Z pre-orders already cleared 1,000 globally, signaling BYD's credible push into the premium EV segment where higher margins live rather than its usual budget-price playbook.
